Task: Categorize WIP And Planned Projects
The objective of this task is to appropriately categorize the identified WIP And Planned Projects.

From the information gathered during the Identify Projects task, agree with the Client which projects are in scope.

 

Categorize the WIP Projects into those that:

 

  • Should go live before service handover
  • Capgemini should take over and complete at service handover
  • The Client or incumbent(s) must complete and go live after service handover.

 

In addition there may be projects that transition is dependent on or are dependent on transition. These also need to be identified for tracking.

 

If this is service integration, multi supplier or Client shared model, the work may need to be further categorized into towers, and individual projects may need to be shared across service providers, so the number of categories may be greater than three.

 

This is not a one off activity; since at anytime during the service transition the Client may initiate a new piece of work. The initial work may be undertaken in parallel with the Identify WIP And Planned Projects task.

 

Project categorization may change as transition progresses, e.g. project progress may be faster or slower than anticipated, project audits may identify high risk areas or projects may be cancelled.

 

Projects that should start post transition also need to be identified to feed requirements into staffing and demand planning.

 

Update the WIP Projects Inventory with all of the relevant information gathered. 

Update the Service Engagement Risk Log and Service Engagement Issue Log as appropriate
